Hi
Looking for some advice?
I am currently sending Alexa voice commands to IFTTT, then IFTTT then sends commands back to my Centro 8m. All works a treat, however there can be up to a 10 second delay (annoying), so my question is, is there a device out there that sits between the Alexa & Centro 8m? Which involves being connected to local network?
Send voice command to Alexa, Alexa sends to device (translates in text/command), then sends to Centro 8?
Any help appreciated
Thanks in advance
Michael

Re: Alexa with Centro 8m
That would be great! (If there was such a device), Alexa, as far as I understand is cloud based, the device itself is just a microphone + portal to high end voice recognition servers. Which is why I turned mine one off, because of the privacy issue - your paying someone to record your voice in your own home !!
However, years ago (late 90s) there was a company called Dragon speak, with a simple dicta phone and their software they could translate your voice into digital text with 95+% accuracy. in theory you could turn that into 2 way feedback commands without any need for the CLOUD!

Hi Mike,
There is a way to take iftt out of the picture but you will need to either have a full time PC or Rasberry running.
It is a Phillips Hue Emulator. The Echo/Alexa recognizes it as a Hue Bridge and therefore will send commands to it.
The actions taken when the Emulator receives the command are up to you.
I have been using it for a couple of years now in conjunction with an ISY994i to control lights, Receiver, TV etc.
When the Centro 8m came out I added commands for that into the Emulator to control the Receiver, TV etc
It can be found here http://bwssystems.com/#/myCarousel
