I would go with Heatmiser and find a way around the voltage problem with relays etc. Not knowing your system, that's all I can say, but a good electrical engineer should be able to help you with that part.

No I was referring to the Demopad statement that there will be an announcement at ISE. This obviously didn't happen for reasons best known to Dempad.

Pretty much. The software is basic but the instructions are quite easy to follow. It depends upon what you are connecting the converter to that governs how easy the set up is. It should be possible but you will need to manipulate the data as it sent in a string. But the difference between this and the systems you mention are that they have processor boxes which obtain and process the data in the string. It is immediately ready for the iPad to read. I know they work because I have five in my system. Don't get the middle one though as it is TTL. The RS485 also works with Heatmiser systems.
The software is not as polished when it comes to set up but they do the job if you have the patience.
